With a distinguished career in academia and research, Dr. Artavia is the author of numerous books and academic articles on topics including development measurement, sustainable development, regional integration, competitive strategy, corporate governance, social responsibility, and agribusiness.

He holds a Doctorate from Harvard Business School (1992), an MBA from INCAE Business School (1982), and a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the United States Merchant Marine Academy, Kings Point (1980).
