Terms and Conditions of Use

1. Acceptance of the Terms

Accessing or using The Democracy Lab Foundation (“Demo Lab”) website, educational platforms (including Freedom Academy and the Freedom Course), or any content or services provided through them constitutes full acceptance of these Terms and Conditions of Use.

If you do not agree with these Terms, you must refrain from using the Site or Services.

2. Definitions

  • Site: Demo Lab’s website and subdomains.

  • User: any person who accesses or uses the Site or the Services.

  • Services: educational programs, courses, certifications, digital content and related functionalities.

  • Content: text, images, videos, trademarks, designs, graphics, software and educational materials belonging to Demo Lab or authorized third parties.

 

3. Conditions of Use

3.1 Permitted use

Users agree to use the Site solely for lawful and educational purposes, and in accordance with these Terms. It is prohibited to:

  • Access systems, databases or accounts without authorization.

  • Interfere with the functioning of the Site or decompile its code.

  • Use Content for commercial purposes without written permission.

  • Create accounts using false or third-party information.

  • Engage in activities that compromise security or availability.

 

3.2 Accuracy of information

Users must ensure that all information submitted is accurate and up to date.

 

4. User Accounts

4.1 Registration

Some Services require a personal account. Users are responsible for:

  • Keeping passwords confidential.

  • Not sharing access with third parties.

  • Reporting unauthorized use immediately.

Demo Lab may suspend or delete accounts for violations of these Terms.

4.2 Minors

For users under 15 years of age, the Freedom Course must be taken under parental or legal guardian supervision.

5. Educational Services and Certifications

Demo Lab may grant access to courses, programs, digital content and certifications. Demo Lab reserves the right to modify, update, or discontinue content as needed.

6. Intellectual Property Rights

6.1 Ownership

All Content is owned by:

  • Demo Lab,

  • Its licensors, or

  • Partner institutions.

6.2 License

Users receive a limited, revocable, non-exclusive and non-transferable license to use Content solely for personal and educational purposes.

6.3 Restrictions

Users may not:

  • Reproduce, distribute or commercialize Content.

  • Remove intellectual property notices.

  • Use trademarks or logos without permission.

7. Limitation of Liability

7.1 Site operation

Demo Lab does not guarantee that the Site:

  • Will be error-free,

  • Will be available continuously,

  • Will meet specific expectations.

7.2 Exclusion of liability

Demo Lab is not responsible for:

  • Direct or indirect damages arising from Site use,

  • Data loss, technical failures or service interruptions,

  • Acts of third parties affecting the Site.

7.3 Educational content

Content is informational and does not constitute professional advice.

8. External Links

The Site may contain links to external sites. Demo Lab is not responsible for third-party content or practices.

9. Rules for Interactivity, Digital Products and Services

Users agree to:

  • Maintain respectful behavior in forums or collaborative spaces.

  • Avoid posting illegal, offensive or discriminatory content.

  • Avoid spam or malware.

  • Not record or redistribute classes without authorization.

Demo Lab may remove content or suspend users who violate these rules.

10. Changes to these Terms

Demo Lab may update these Terms at any time. Continued use of the Site constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

11. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Costa Rica. Any dispute shall be resolved before the competent courts in San José.
